This day is one of those in which I find myself reading old blog posts, all sad and verge-of-tears-ful.  I also just made the decision to really commit to staying in Saint Louis (I was wavering).  To that end, I talked with my supervisor about whether I’ll ever be a full-time therapist.  She said, “I’d love that” and “we’ll see what happens.”  I also took my little resume down to the Cheese Cake Factory and applied for a server job.  Whatever works, right?  These are fun, empowered steps, right?

Maybe, but I’m not feeling it..  Still down in the mouth.  It’s the same feeling as when you miss a counseling appointment because you were just so distracted with thinking about nothing much — which, incidentally, I also did today.

I get to volunteer for a local production of Shadowlands tonight, which will be good on two counts: I get to dress up (acting counter to negative emotions!) AND I get to sit in a dark box with strangers, all thinking about our disappointments with God (identifying the function of emotions!  riding the wave of emotion, knowing it will pass!).

I heart my DBT skillz.
